Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I decided to run for San Diego City Council in District 2 because we are ready for change in our beach communities. Our district includes the neighborhoods of Bay Ho, Bay Park, Morena, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Midway, and Point Loma.
Over the last 4 decades, I have worked as a family physician, an educator, and a business owner. I trained at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, and am Board Certified in Family Practice and Holistic Medicine. My partner Suzanne and I have 9 beautiful grandchildren, and we live in the Bay Ho neighborhood of Clairemont.
In the last 8 years, we’ve seen the terrible, inhumane homeless crisis worsen.
We’ve seen a dramatic increase in the abuse of our residential neighborhoods by negligent Short-Term Vacation Rentals. We’ve seen our streets crumble, our beaches suffer, and much-needed infrastructure improvements only discussed when it’s politically convenient.
We have to ask, is our tax money being used wisely? Basic municipal necessities have been kicked down the road for other priorities: funding a billion-dollar football stadium, sweetheart-deal land swaps for wealthy developers, all while the neighborhood Community Planning Groups’ input has been ignored.
As a physician, if I ever advised a patient to take a kick-the-can-down-the-road approach to their health, I would not have been in practice for very long. My diagnosis: We need to fix City Hall.
We deserve a City Council representative who treats their communities and constituents with respect. Our neighborhoods and our city have challenges that need direct, immediate attention.
I am ready to bring responsible, intelligent, and experienced leadership to the City Council and I would be honored to have your support.
